Baptismal Candidate Instructions
General Information:
• Please arrive by 9:45 a.m. Sunday morning to receive final instructions and be assigned a dressing room.
• Baptismal Service will take place directly after Communion.
• The candidates will be escorted from the designated seating area to the Baptistry by the persons assigned to baptize the candidates.
• Come fully dressed in your baptism attire. Each candidate will be given a white T-shirt to wear over their clothes.
• Please bring items that have been previously washed to reduce the risk of large amounts of dye seeping from their clothing.
Baptismal Attire:
• Please bring a lightweight pair of pants to wear under the baptismal gown. The idea is to reduce the amount of water retained in your clothes. We ask that you avoid wearing red as this color tends to irreversibly stain white. It is recommended that your top be lightweight as well. A dark T-shirt is fine.
• Please remember to bring extra underwear as you will get wet from head to toe.
• Please bring a comfortable pair of shoes.
Women, in addition to the items above, please note the following:
• If you are a developed women or a developing young lady, we ask that you please wear a padded bra. Additionally, we suggest that you wear dark undergarments under your clothes to eliminate the possibility of transparency.
• Hair care items - Your hair will most assuredly get wet! Please bring the hair care products/tools that you will need to attend to your hair after you are baptized.
You will need to prepare an after-baptism bag with the following items:
Men:
• Towel
• Dry Underwear

• Dry socks
• Plastic bag for wet clothing

Do I have to get baptized to be saved?
Water baptism is an essential act of faith encouraged by Jesus Christ for every Christian. While not altogether salvific, it is spiritually enriching and foundational.
I was baptized before, backslid and repented. Do I need to be baptized again?
Re-baptism is not a requirement of repentance according to scripture. The Bible does not encourage nor discourage re-baptism. For some, being baptized again helps to renew their walk of faith and mark a new beginning.
Can I get baptized more than once?
Being baptized more than once is like renewing your vow to God in front of the world. Baptism is a declaration to all that you have denounced a life of sin. It is acceptable to be baptized more than once if one is led by their faith to do so.
Do I need to be baptized again if I got baptized in a different church?
We are baptized unto what we believe. If you were baptized into another way of belief, it would be beneficial to be baptized again unto a new way. - Acts 19:3-5
Does water baptism save?
Water baptism alone does not save. It is an outward proclamation of repentance unto salvation which occurs by the work of the Holy Spirit. John the Baptist declared that water baptism is unto repentance, but he encouraged his followers to look for Jesus who is greater, and would baptize them unto salvation with the Holy Ghost. - Matthew 3:11
